Civil Society Organizations urged to avoid duplication of work if development is to be realized in communities.

The chief administrative officer, Kyegegwa district Mr. Oloya Stephen has urged CSO’s working in the district to consider the underserved communities while rendering services in the district.

Mr Oloya said this when he was officially opening the district local government-CSO’s forum meeting at Kyegegwa council hall on 17th April 2019. He said tracking the work done by CSO’s in the district was a challenge because of limited reporting. ‘’We as a district recognize and appreciate the work done by CSO’s in the district because as stakeholders they have supported development work and improved services in the district’’, Said Mr Oloya Stephen, CAO Kyegegwa district.

Mr Oloya advised all CSO’s in the district to team up, align their strategic planning with that of the country and also feel free to come and share challenges of the district in such joint foras/dialogues as the only way to support the operations of Public-Private-Partnerships and realizing development in the district and country as a whole.

In his communication, David Kugonza, ToroDev’s Strategic partnerships and communications officer said as a country there is no way we can still work in isolation because it cannot take us anywhere especially with the technology taking shape in the world. David said Public-Private-Partnerships will further improve service delivery in the district and country for example if one institution has funds and the other has experts in a number of fields, they can team up and do grate work as far as solving challenges in the communities are concerned. He further said the fact that CSO’s work aim to improve service delivery in communities, PPP is the only way to achieve improved service delivery. David shared with the participants the role of ICT in development and also demonstrated how MML an e-participation platform, an online platform developed by ToroDev that gathers evidence based data on service delivery from communities which are discussed between district officials and CSO’s representatives in such forums aimed at informing district officials what is happening in communities so that the issues can be discussed and actions taken for the betterment of citizens in communities.  He encouraged district heads of departments and CSO’s to Participants through visiting MML e-participation platform online via http://www.mmlonline.org or use a pre-paid Sms by sending a message to 6115.

The meeting that was organized under the objectives of; streamlining the working relations between district local government and CSO’s and functionalize the operations of Kyegegwa district NGO forum, ensuring adequate collaboration and coordination between NGO’s/CBO’s and the district for proper planning and budgeting process and to promote MML e-participation platform that captures evidence based data from hard to reach communities was attended by over fifty (50) district officials and CSO’s representatives including; the chief administrative officer, resident district commissioner, district community development officer, Danish relief agency (DRC), Adventist development relief agency (ADRA), Torodev, to mention but a few.

Other presentations including; understanding the legal and operation requirements of NGO’s /CSO’s, cooperation among civil society organizations, MML e-participation platform, presentation and discussion of Kyegegwa NGO’s forum constitution, ,work plan and budget were done by different  facilitators during the meeting.

  • Over fifty (50) participants attended including
  • MML e-participation system promoted and encouraged participants to visit http://www.mmlonline.org
  • Knowledge on legal operation requirements of NGO’s/CSO’s acquired
  • Information on Public-Private partnerships and cooperation among CSO’s shared
  • Kyegegwa NGO forum constitution, workplan and budget presented & discussed
