This project aimed to enhance public accountability and foster democratic engagement in Uganda and Kenya by converging various ICT tools to create a more transparent and inclusive governance process. The project sought to empower citizens to actively participate in the democratic process and hold their leaders accountable through the use of innovative digital platforms.
Supported by funding from SIDA (The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency) through the ICT4Democracy Network for East Africa, this project focused on developing and deploying ICT tools that facilitate citizen engagement in public accountability processes. By leveraging digital technology, the project provided citizens with the means to report issues, engage in public discourse, and monitor government actions in real-time.
The project significantly improved citizen participation in governance and enhanced public accountability in the targeted regions. By providing accessible and user-friendly ICT tools, the project enabled more citizens to engage in the democratic process, leading to increased transparency and accountability in government actions. The success of this project also laid the foundation for future initiatives focused on the intersection of technology and governance.
