The objective of this project was to enhance public accountability and improve service delivery in Western Uganda through the use of ICT tools. The project focused on empowering citizens to hold their leaders accountable and ensure that public services were delivered effectively and transparently.
Part of the ICT4Democracy Network for East Africa, this project was funded by SIDA (The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency) and managed by CIPESA. It targeted seven districts in the Rwenzori region, leveraging ICT tools to amplify the voices of local citizens and facilitate their engagement with government officials.
The project significantly improved the responsiveness of local governments in Western Uganda, leading to better service delivery in areas such as health, education, and infrastructure. By empowering citizens to use ICT tools for advocacy, the project fostered a culture of accountability and transparency that continues to benefit the region.
